Dear Families,

When I arrived at St.Vincent's at the start of 2022, I was lucky to have the two parent groups (School Advisory Board and Parents & Friends) that were filled with long-term, established families within the school. Like all organisations, time forces change with schools and junior sporting clubs turning over volunteers as children age. 2024 presents a new opportunity in the recent history of our school, with the vast majority of these volunteer families 'graduating' from the school over the past two years. We also have an existing collection of generous individuals who efficiently handle individual annual events.

We are seeking parents to step into these two groups to contribute in a variety of ways.

A simple explanation of the functions of the groups would include the following:

School Advisory Board

• Provides a forum for the Principal to seek feedback about school strategic decisions.
• Advice during critical incidents (remember COVID?)

Parents & Friends

• Provide opportunities for parents and families to interact.
• Fund raising for additional resources.
• Uniform Shop (Thanks Kelly!)
• Support the school in hands-on ways eg. Special Food Days, Special Events, BBQs, gardens, and maintenance.

Initiatives I would like to consider are canteen and school breakfast.

From my personal experience as a school parent and my heavy involvement in local sports I understand the demands of volunteerism. I also acknowledge the ongoing battle to attract volunteers in a variety of organisations, I'm sure plenty of parents already experience this in their involvement in local sports etc. However, without your support, these two groups cannot successfully operate.
