Dear Families
This weekend we celebrate Fatherhood so can I wish all the St.Vincent's 'Fathers' a wonderful day. Fatherhood is such a powerful responsibility as well as a gift, so I offer my sincere blessings to all the Dads, Step-Dads, Grandfathers + all others. May you feel energised and supported as you live through the highs and lows of caring for our school's great asset - our beautiful children.
This Sunday also marks the start of Child Safety Week for our Diocese, which itself also links with National Child Protection Week. In this newsletter I've added some information about the week and some really valuable resources. I encourage you to take a look and to remember to fall back on these resources when needed.
We have had a really exciting fortnight with plenty of learning and social opportunities across the school. Our Book Week day was an absolute highlight and I appreciated the effort that went into the day by our staff and families. I think the staff enjoyed dressing up more than the kids!
In the upcoming final weeks of the term we have our school concert. Rehearsals and preparations are ramping up. I'm really enjoying hearing the songs through the corridors - and I'm also a little curious of the weird and wonderful props that are being created by our talented Concert committee. Our ticket sales have already smashed Taylor Swift's statistics so I encourage everyone to ensure they have secured tickets as we will likely sell almost every seat in this magnificent venue.
Again, I wish all our St. V's Dads a wonderful weekend. I also extend a welcome to everyone to come along to our Father's Day Liturgy on Friday at 9.15am in the church. Feel free to visit classrooms after our prayer.
For those families who barrack for a decent AFL team I wish you all the best for finals series that starts next week.
Dave

Our 2024 School Concert (Let’s Get Started) will be held on Thursday 19th September at the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon.
Tickets for this event was released on Wednesday 21st August at 10:00am. Tickets will be $17 dollars each. Please note that this is a one-off performance and is expected to sell out. To avoid the disappointment of missing out it is recommended that you purchase tickets sooner rather than later. There is no limit to the number of tickets you are able to purchase. Seats are allocated as per ticket purchases. Join us for a night of nostalgia, laughs, music, live acting, plenty of dancing and good times.
As we hit some cooler weather we will likely find an increase in illnesses in the community. Some common ones to be aware of are influenza, gastroenteritis, slap cheek and head lice.
The Department of Health has issued a health alert of increasing cases of Whooping Cough (Pertussis) in Victoria.
Please find attached a link to the Department of Health website that provides parents with useful information about different infectious diseases and school exclusion. We ask for your support in keeping children home that are unwell. Apart from reducing the risks of spreading germs, it is sad to see little bodies trying to cope with school when they are not feeling 100%.
Child Safety Week: 1-7 September 2024
This year Child Safety Week in the Diocese of Sale coincides with National Child Protection Week.
In 2024, the National Child Protection Week message that ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’ will be complemented with the theme ‘Every conversation matters’.
Conversations are powerful tools to keep children and young people safe and well.
Conversations can help us understand issues, craft solutions, value community knowledge, and build the brains and social connections of children and young people.
Conversations between
…children and their caregivers matter (from the very earliest days)
…children and their peers matter
…families with teachers, doctors, and other professionals matter
…friends or neighbours matter
…decision-makers and the communities they serve matter.
And, of course, conversations in the public realm and media matter…
So this National Child Protection Week we invite you to speak up – and speak together – about what needs to change for every child in every community to have a fair go.
This theme provides a platform to:
- engage in important conversations,
- promote the value of conversations, and
- equip us to have conversations that keep kids safe.
Let’s use this theme to explore and talk about the many ways that conversations matter for children, young people and their families.
National Association for Prevention of Child abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN)
The National Association for Prevention of Child abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) was co-founded by Rosemary Sinclair AO and Christine Stewart OAM in 1987, because they saw that the abuse and neglect of children was a taboo topic in Australian society in the 1980s. They were determined to change this and create safer communities for children. They set about to achieve this vision with the assistance of a passionate team of volunteers and a range of influential and committed partners.
Their website offers a treasure trove of resources for families and organisations. Please take some time to visit their website and take a look at one of the brochures we have downloaded from their Resources section.
SchoolTV - Our Wellbeing Resource
Today parents face a multitude of modern day challenges in raising happy, well and resilient young people. Whilst there is a great deal of information available, this can often be confusing and overwhelming for parents looking for guidance.
SchoolTV addresses this as an online resource designed to empower you as parents with credible and sound information with realistic, practical ongoing support strategies.
St.Vincent's is proud to partner with SchoolTV to offer our school families a range of resources. We urge you to check out these wonderful resources.
SchoolTV is available via our school website under the Wellbeing menu.
We look forward to engaging with our 2025 Foundation students and their families across the year as they make the exciting transition to Primary School. If you have a child joining us next year or know of a family member or friend attending St. Vincent's, please reach out.
Our transition programs run across Terms 3 and 4. Our transition program is a wonderful opportunity and offers our incoming students an extensive introduction to school. We encourage all families to take advantage of these opportunities while also inviting new families to feel welcome to come along to see all we have to offer.

We have sent out different newsletters and communications about our concert over the past few weeks. For reference we have added the key pieces of information to a page on the school website. Feel free to acess this information via this link:
