The Premier of Victoria, The Hon. Dan Andrews, announced earlier this week, several changes to the Victorian Roadmap. Because of Victoria meeting vaccination targets, students in regional Victoria will now return to on-site, full-time learning TOMORROW Friday 22 October 2021.
It will be wonderful to have everyone back together.
We appreciate the support you have provided for your child’s learning while juggling your own responsibilities and work and helping with Google Meets and the attendance roll. These things have not gone unnoticed. As a staff we cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for your child during remote schooling.
We continue to ask that you wear masks when dropping off and picking up your children (unless you have a medical exemption), maintain social distancing requirements and exit the school grounds as soon as possible.
Many in our school community continue to face financial impacts as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are committed to supporting families experiencing financial challenges through our School Fee Concession programs, and encourage any parent/carer/guardian experiencing difficulties to contact us regarding fee assistance.
Fee payers who have recently qualified for a Centrelink Concession Card should communicate with the school at their earliest convenience to determine eligibility for a Category One Centrelink Concession Card Concession.
Please contact the school via email email@example.com to explore confidential financial support arrangements or to obtain further information.
SOCKTOBER - Sock it to Poverty
October is World Mission Month and Pope Francis wants us to “Rise up from the couch - with your boots laced - and turn your hands into signs of love ….” Catholic Mission works hard, providing essential support for key projects in countries around the world, including areas in remote Australia. The 2021 campaign is supporting the Good Shepherd Kindergarten in Bangkok, Thailand.
Socktober aims to engage Catholic School students’ heads, hearts and hands as they discuss key issues of mission and social justice through the powerful metaphors found through sport.
What can we do about that here at St Vincents Primary School?
At school, the children will have the opportunity to learn about different communities around the world and some of the fantastic things that Catholic Mission are doing to help people who don’t have the same privileges as we do.
Also, on Thursday 28th October we are going to have a Crazy Sock Day at school to raise money to support the Socktober Appeal. For a gold coin donation, the children are able to wear crazy socks to school on this day with their school uniform.
Book Week Dress Up Day
On Wednesday 3rd November, the children are invited to dress up for Book Week. The theme this year is “Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds”. Again we are limited in what we can do but the children will love dressing up. Remember reading is about expanding your imagination as well as your knowledge. Creating a costume does not need to cost much, just use some imagination (or maybe Pinterest might inspire you).
World Teachers Day
Friday 29th October we will be celebrating World Teachers Day and say a special Thank You to our wonderful teachers.
On Monday 1st November there will be a school closure for staff professional development and Tuesday 2nd November is the Public holiday for the Melbourne Cup.
